10:56 pm - Started out in church and finished with Angelica
The problem with getting pressed for time is it really throws me off. I know I need some time off, but I can't take it now. Apple has publicly stated that MacOS 10.5 will be released this month, and the software I work on is going to support it when it is.

Anyway, after hearing a sermon about counting your blessings, I walked out and realized, hey, I'm not dealing well... what the heck do I do about it?

Playing board games, drinking and cooking made for a decent day. Now, if only I had time and a way to do the "bike the whole Montour Trail" this week. Instead, perhaps [info]eichin's pointer to some truly tiny trains will provide the kick to
start building a model of the South Side.

Hey there, I noticed that you are into Pittsburgh history and there seem to be precious few of those people on LJ, so, want to be LJ buddies?

(originally saw a post of yours on the pgh community a week or so ago)

I'm British born and bred, but I first came to Pittsburgh in 2005 to visit my girlfriend (long distance relationship) and fell in love with the city. I've managed to come back once every year since then, but I still miss it terribly. One day I hope to live there, but who knows how feasible that will be!

In the meantime I've amassed a library of over 40 Pittsburgh-related books and am even hoping to write a couple of my own!

There was a time when I had been working on a book on the tram network in Johnstown, PA. At this point I will probably write for historical society magazines if anything; books are going to be too ambitious.

My first idea is a book about Pittsburgh in the comic books - obviously that will have a very limited niche audience but perhaps one of the local history publishers or one of the university bookstores will pick it up.

The other, more ambitious project is a book about close-quarters combat during the French and Indian War, which should have a wider audience with F&I historians and re-enactors as well as Western martial arts/hoplology enthusiasts.

the guy who runs the "PA The Old Miner" web site (about old coal mines) is also an F&I war historian. I haven't met him in person yet, he was going to walk an abandoned railroad bed near New Alexandria with me, and then he got busy or sick and it hasn't yet happened.
